Channel 4’s “Are You Autistic?” Sparks Vital Conversations – Here’s What We Think at Seven Care Services
Posted on 9th April 2025
At Seven Care Services, we were delighted to see Channel 4’s latest series “Are You Autistic?” bringing much-needed visibility to the topic of autism, especially among adults who may have gone undiagnosed. The programme shines a light on what it truly means to be autistic in the UK today—challenging stereotypes, amplifying lived experiences, and asking difficult but important questions.
As a specialist care provider supporting people with autism and learning disabilities across Coventry, Warwickshire, and the wider Midlands, we know how transformative an accurate diagnosis can be—not just for the individual, but for families, friends, employers, and support networks.
The series highlighted that many autistic people mask their traits to fit in socially, particularly women and those from diverse cultural backgrounds. This is something we see often in our clinical assessments and community support services. Undiagnosed autism can lead to mental health challenges, feelings of isolation, and being misunderstood. That’s why our work at Seven Care Services is so essential.
We offer face-to-face autism assessments, with no waiting list, carried out by a multi-disciplinary team of experts using NICE-compliant tools. Through our partnerships with NHS Trusts, local authorities, and private clients, we’ve helped thousands of individuals get the clarity and support they deserve.
What stood out in the show was the diversity of people coming forward to ask: “Could I be autistic?” It’s a question we hear daily—and one that deserves a safe, respectful, and professional space to be explored. At Seven Care Services, we make that possible.
If this series has made you question your own experiences, or those of someone close to you, know that you’re not alone. Getting assessed is not about putting a label on someone—it’s about opening doors. Doors to understanding, tailored support, reasonable adjustments at work or school, and most importantly—self-acceptance.
We applaud Channel 4 for bringing autism to the forefront of public conversation, and we’re here to continue that conversation in our communities.
