Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the incredible contribution they make to families, communities, and society. It also serves as a timely reminder of the importance of recognising all carers — paid and unpaid — who provide vital care, often behind the scenes.
At Seven Care Services, Carers Week holds special meaning. Every day, we witness the dedication, compassion, and resilience of carers in many forms — from our professional care teams delivering specialist supported living, to parents, siblings, and family members who support their loved ones at home.
The Role of Carers in Our Work
Our services span across children’s residential care, supported living, complex care, and national autism and ADHD diagnostic pathways. In every part of our work, carers are at the heart of what we do. For many of the individuals we support, family carers have already provided years of love, advocacy, and personal sacrifice before our involvement begins.
We work closely alongside these families to ensure care is joined-up, person-centred, and respectful of both the individual’s needs and the family dynamic.
Real Lives, Real Stories
Throughout our services, we see carers making an extraordinary difference:
Client A’s parents, who have navigated years of supporting their autistic child to access education, healthcare, and opportunities for independence.
Client B’s sister, who advocates tirelessly for her sibling’s emotional wellbeing and safe community access.
Client C’s father, who provides daily personal care alongside our staff while balancing work and family life.
Client D’s wider family, who contribute to decision-making, safeguarding, and long-term planning for their relative's complex care needs.
Behind each individual we support, there is often a strong network of unpaid carers providing critical emotional, practical, and financial support.
Supporting Our Professional Carers
At Seven Care Services, our paid carers — support workers, PBS practitioners, nurses, clinicians, managers — also deserve recognition during Carers Week. They bring skill, patience, and dedication to some of the most challenging and rewarding roles within health and social care.
We provide our teams with:
Comprehensive training and induction
Specialist courses such as Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), delegated healthcare tasks, Oliver McGowan training, and safeguarding
Clinical supervision and ongoing professional development
A supportive team environment where wellbeing is prioritised
Without this incredible workforce, the complex and specialised care we deliver across our services simply would not be possible.
The Challenges Carers Face
Caring can be both rewarding and deeply challenging. Many carers, particularly unpaid family carers, experience:
Financial pressures from reduced income or increased care costs
Emotional strain and burnout
Social isolation and lack of respite
Navigating complex health, education, and social care systems
Balancing work, personal life, and care responsibilities
As an organisation, we see first-hand the importance of providing flexible support, respite opportunities, practical advice, and emotional understanding to carers as they navigate these challenges.
A Message from Our Directors
“Carers Week reminds us that behind every care plan is a family, a carer, and a team who invest emotionally and physically every single day. At Seven Care Services, we are committed to walking alongside carers and supporting both the individuals we care for and those who care for them.”
— Jeb Singh, CEO
“We salute the unpaid carers, the parents, siblings, and partners who have given so much of themselves. We equally recognise the professionalism and commitment of our own workforce, who deliver exceptional care every day. Together, we create better futures.”
— Reita Lebrock, Operations Manager
This Carers Week: Let’s Keep the Conversation Going
As we celebrate Carers Week 2025, we invite everyone — staff, families, commissioners, partners, and communities — to take a moment to:
Thank a carer you know.
Raise awareness of carers’ needs.
Advocate for better support for carers at local and national levels.
Recognise the value that both unpaid and professional carers bring to our society.
Together, we continue to build a culture where carers are seen, heard, and valued.
