18th June 2025 marked Autistic Pride Day, a global celebration of neurodiversity, autistic identity, and the unique strengths of individuals on the autism spectrum. At Seven Care Services, we proudly joined in this important day by honouring the voices, experiences, and achievements of the autistic people we support.
Why Autistic Pride Day Matters
Unlike traditional awareness days, Autistic Pride Day is not about raising awareness of challenges – it's about recognising and celebrating autistic people for who they are. The day was created by autistic individuals themselves to promote self-advocacy, acceptance, and pride in identity.
It affirms the message: autism is not something to be “fixed” – it is something to be understood and embraced. Autistic Pride Day provides space for reflection, connection, and community – while challenging stereotypes and stigma.
How We Celebrated at Seven Care Services
Amplifying Autistic Voices
We encouraged those we support to express themselves through creative activities, from storytelling and painting to sensory displays. Some of our clients shared their experiences of what makes them feel proud to be autistic.
Staff Reflection & Training
Our teams took part in sessions on the importance of identity-first language, inclusive communication, and the need to respect sensory preferences. We reinforced our commitment to listening, not assuming.
Rainbow Infinity Activities
Clients created colourful displays using the rainbow infinity symbol – which represents the diversity and limitless potential of autistic individuals. These were proudly showcased across our supported living homes and clinics.
Group Celebrations
We held small group events where service users and staff came together to enjoy music, games, and inclusive activities in a safe and supportive environment.
Celebrating Differences Every Day
While Pride Day is one moment in time, we continue this work all year round. Through person-centred care and co-produced support plans, we champion every individual’s right to live authentically.
Why This Matters to Us
Seven Care Services exists to provide support that uplifts, not restricts. We work with people who are autistic, have learning disabilities, and may have complex needs – and we believe that everyone deserves to be celebrated for who they are.
Pride isn’t about ignoring the challenges autistic people face – it’s about recognising that their identity is not the problem. Society’s understanding, accessibility, and attitude are what must evolve. This is why days like Autistic Pride Day are so vital.
A Message from Jeb Singh, CEO of Seven Care Services
“At Seven Care Services, we don't just talk about inclusion — we live it. Autistic Pride Day is a reminder that autistic people should not be seen through a lens of limitation, but through the lens of their strengths, interests, and humanity. We're proud to support autistic individuals to lead lives they value, in environments that celebrate them.”
Moving Forward
Every year, Autistic Pride Day inspires us to do more — to challenge assumptions, improve training, and build communities where autistic people feel heard, respected, and proud. The celebration may have lasted one day, but the impact carries on through every interaction, every plan, and every voice we amplify.
