Autism Assessment Service

At Seven Care Services, we provide NHS-trusted, NICE-compliant autism assessments for children, young people, and adults across the UK.
We deliver both autism and combined autism and ADHD assessments through a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team, reducing waiting times and ensuring accurate, evidence-based diagnosis. We are a CQC-registered and accredited Right to Choose provider, and are approved on national frameworks including NHS Shared Business Services (SBS) and NHS Sourcing.

This allows NHS commissioners and local authorities to engage our services quickly and compliantly.

Our Assessment Approach

Our assessment pathway follows NICE CG128 guidelines and uses gold-standard diagnostic tools, such as:
ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule)
ADI-R (Autism Diagnostic Interview – Revised)
Standardised questionnaires and clinical observations
Gathering information from multiple settings (home, school, workplace)
All assessments are conducted by multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs), which may include clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, speech and language therapists, and occupational therapists.

Our Step-by-Step Process

Referral & Eligibility Check

We accept referrals via NHS contracts, Right to Choose, and private self-referrals.

Eligibility and required documentation are reviewed by our admin team.

For NHS referrals, we work with the commissioning team to confirm funding and referral criteria.

Information Gathering

We request background information from parents/carers, schools, and/or employers.

Developmental history forms and relevant reports (e.g. EHCP, SENCO feedback) are collected.

Our team reviews this information ahead of the assessment.

Initial Appointment

A structured clinical interview with parents/carers (for children) or with the individual (for adults).

Discussion of developmental history, strengths, challenges, and current concerns.

Screening for co-occurring conditions where relevant.

Diagnostic Assessment

Administration of ADOS-2 and/or other observational tools by trained clinicians.

Assessment of social communication, interaction, and restricted/repetitive behaviours.

Additional ADHD screening if required.

Multi-Disciplinary Team Discussion

All findings are reviewed in an MDT meeting.

Diagnostic decisions are made in line with NICE guidance, ensuring accuracy and consistency.

Feedback Session

Results are shared in a dedicated feedback appointment.

A clear explanation of the outcome, whether a diagnosis is given or not.

Time for questions, next steps, and signposting to appropriate support.

Diagnostic Report & Recommendations

A comprehensive written report is provided, including:
Diagnostic outcome
Summary of assessment findings
Recommended support strategies
Referrals to other services if needed
For NHS and commissioning partners, reports are issued in line with contractual timeframes.

Post-Diagnostic Support

Signposting to local and national support services.

Guidance on education, workplace adjustments, and access to benefits.

For commissioners, optional follow-on interventions can be commissioned.
